Hello My Fellow Worshippers of the God of Israel!
Today's blog is my last one and it is about my wedding ceremony!
Lets start with the week before the wedding. For this week I couldn't see her which was tremendously difficult. My mind was racing with many different thoughts about her and myself! The entire week was probably the most nervous period of my life by far. No matter how hard I try this blog will not reflect my true emotions that week and especially the night before.
Moving on to the first part of the wedding; The Ketuvah. This is the official contract signed by myself and my chosson (bride). This is similar to the one signed at the Vort but it outlines my responsibilities; provide shelter, food, etc. It must be witnessed by two people; our best friends Jon and Mary. After this was over the butterflies in my stomach had calmed down. Now I could then truly focus on the significance behind every part in the wedding. Another reason for this was because we had some light snacks and drank some hard liquor.
Next is the Bedeken which is the 'veiling by the groom'. I am accompanied by my father and father in-law and see my chosson for the first time in a week. At this point all the emotions I thought I had got rid of the previous week came back. I could not help but cry in joy for Elizabeth was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! She is sitting in a throne while musicians played some instrumental music. I approached her and placed the veil on her.
The Chuppah is a canopy type tent which is usually placed outside, however it was snowing so we placed it inside. It symbolizes our new home and life together. I wore a white robe called the kittel which represents a a new clean slate. My chosson arrives with my mother and mother in-law and circles around me seven times. It symbolizes that she is protective and the seven represents the days of creation.
The rabbi blessed our bottle of wine as we drank from it. The wine is the symbol for life and that our lives together will be blessed. It's followed by the most nervous part for myself; the Kiddushin where I place a plain, gold ring on my chosson's finger.
Then the rabbi recited the Sheva Brachos; seven blessings. It's said over a cup of wine which we drank after the blessings. We had finished the cup then I smashed it with my foot. This was one of my favourite parts; the reason for this tradition is to show our sorrow of the Jewish Exile.
The final part was the Cheder Yichud(Private Room). Where we were finally together alone for the first time. This moment was a time of joy and realization for now we are married! Then we were served a large meal because we have been fasting all day long now.

Hello My Fellow Worshipers of the God of Israel!
I bring you all great new in terms of the official wedding ceremony! We have decided to celebrate it in Vail, Colorado for several reasons:
1. Both myself and Elizabeth LOVE to Ski; Date of Marriage: February 14, 2011
2. Veal is beautiful in the winter just like my Fiancee
I a currently blogging from Vail, Colorado in a separate hotel from my fiancee. According to Jewish law the couple must not see their partner one week before the wedding to make it more emotional. Anyways the next time I will be blogging you is after the wedding ceremony so wish me luck!

Vort~Engagement

Hello My Fellow Worshippers of the God of Israel!
I have completely forgotten to blog about my Vort Ceremony so here it is. Before I will tell the story about it here is some background information:
Firstly the Vort is the official engagement between a couple. During this small ceremony the who families meet to officially agree that the couple should be wed. In my case our families met at a small synagogue in the north end of Manhattan. On top of this official announcement, we signed a physical contract (tenaim). This document outlined our marriage and the conditions involved that comes with it. After this document was signed I had this sudden epiphany or realization that I am getting married. It all hit me right then and there, just as I lifted the pen off the page. This thought both scared me and excited me. I believe it is the element of unknown that scares me the most. Like, is there someone else that is better suiting for me? or will I still love her in 5-15-15 years from now? In the end I just reassure myself that I am making the right decision. Which excites me for I cannot wait to live the rest of my life with her!

Hello My Fellow Worshippers of the God of Israel!
Sorry for the lack of updates on my wedding, we have been so busy planning. As well there is this massive project we are working on at BLOOM designs. You guys are never going to guess who is the client; Donald Trump himself. We are designing a home for him to be built in Miami. Here is a picture of what we have so far:
Anyways moving on to the real reason for this blog today; MY PROPOSAL!!!
Now a lot of my followers having been asking me to tell the story of my proposal, so here it is. This procedure was hard to do because of our religions. As Orthodox Jews we are not allowed to be in the same room by ourselves or to have physical contact. So staying true to our faith I asked her in the busiest place in the world; Times Square, New York. Let me just say this was one of the most scariest and nerve-racking things I have ever done. So here we are in the middle of all this action and I bent down on my knee and say האם אתה תשא אותי? This is hebrew for "Will You Marry Me". She was overwhelmed with tears and quickly shouted "Yes! Yes! For Sure I Will!" This was then followed by several phone calls to everyone she knew. And that pretty much sums it up into a nice, short and sweet paragraph.

Just Getting Started~Shidduch

Hello My Fellow Worshipers of the God of Israel!
I bring you all great news about my quest to find my life partner! The period of my Shidduch is now over after proposing to my fiancee Elizabeth Smith. The Shidduch is the period of time where you must find your eternal life partner. This is a deep, complex process which is not based on external appearance but instead compatibility. Here's an example; Elizabeth and myself both are Orthodox Jews and both plan on having many children. Now that this long process is complete we can start planning the wedding ceremony and the rest of our lives!! I have to admit this thought of spending eternity with someone is very overwhelming. I find myself questioning this decision every night while lying in bed. Anyways I have to get some rest for some major wedding planning tomorrow with Elizabeth.
